It is a quaint city which has attracted many tourists nationally and internationally. The location of the city has made it a prominent destination in the History of Kumbhalgarh. It is significantly famous for the massive invincible fort and the wildlife sanctuary. These form the major attractions of Kumbhalgarh. The fort was designed by Rana Kumbha of Mewar in the 15th century. The locations around Kumbhalgarh are also very interesting to see.

Glimpses From History
During the reign of Rana Kumbha, the kingdom of Mewar spread from Ranthambore to Gwalior. The rulers of Mewar were the patrons and lovers of Indian art, architecture, music, martial arts and learning. Rana Kumbha has designed numerous forts of Mewar. It is said that he had designed as many as 32 forts out of 84 forts of Mewar. Of the forts designed by him the Kumbhalgarh Fort is among the best impressive forts of Mewar. The fort is situated at about 1914m above the sea level. The site where the majestic fort stands once was a munition that belonged to the Jain descendant of Mauryan emperors of India during the second century AD. Also it acted a bifurcation fort between the kingdoms of Mewar and Marwar. It rendered refuge to the Kings of Mewar during dangerous times especially Prince Udai where he was smuggled to in 1535. He later became the successor to the throne and also founded Udaipur City. The city has produced great Rajputs like Maharana Pratap who had fought a battle against Akbar in Haldighati in 1576.

A Tourist's Delight
Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary : The sanctuary gives an excellent opportunity to explore the wildlife in th natural environs. How it would be to see the wild animals in the natural habitat. It boasts of being the only sanctuary of Rajasthan where rarely found wolfs are seen busy in activities. You can enjoy a Jeep safari in the vast sanctuary exploring the wild. The main attraction of Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is panther, sloth bear, wild boar, four-horned antelope or crocodiles, "scientifically bred" in the lake.

Kumbhalgarh Fort : The most imposing and invincible fort of Kumbhalgarh is a major tourist attraction here. The shines of the ancestors are taken care by the priest of the fort. It stretches across 36 km of the Aravali Mountain ranges and is 1100 m high from the sea level. Hulla Pol, Hanuman Pol, Ram Pol, Bhairava Pol, Paghra Pol, Top-khana Pol and Nimboo Pol and Badal Mahal Palace are worth seeing the fort. Rana Fateh Singh in the late 19th century rebuilt the fort.

Tiger in Kumbhalgarh Wildlife SanctuaryReserve Forest : Thrilled by camping and adventure rides, then this one is for you. Come to the Reserve and you can enjoy horse riding, adventurous camping at a very reasonable price.

Crocodile Farm : The Forest Department has set up a guest house here where you can spend a night amidst forest cover, jungle berries, fruits and nuts, water grasses, algae, and fish. Enjoy seeing the birds of various species including flamingos, sarus cranes, spoonbills, painted storks, cormorants, purple heron, egrets, duck, and rosy pelican in winter.

Highlights of Kumbhalgarh
The historical trail of the fort is very rich. The beautiful fort of Kumbhalgarh has been unconquered in the 15th century. Stand on the top of the fort and you can see the accessibility from Ajmer and Marwar to the city. The wall of the fort is said to be greatest after the Great Wall of China.
