The
only hill station of Rajasthan, Mt.Abu is a much sought after destination
among travelers. It is a relief and retreat during hot summers of Rajasthan
and Gujarat. The Brahma Kumari Spiritual University here attracts the

doldrums of life, the place is awesome. The legendary lands of Mount Abu
have been blessed by holy trinity. The hill station is set amidst lavish
environments of Aravali hills at an altitude of 1,220 m above the sea level.

Glimpses From History
The History of Mount Abu is remarkable. The city has association with the
sacred Puranas. At that time the city was referred as Arbudaranya, ("forest
of Arbhu"). The legends hold that Vasishtha, a hermit, retired to the
southern spur at Mount Abu following his differences with sage Viswamitra.
It has enjoyed the status of being a part of the Chauhan kingdom of
Rajasthan which served as a summer resort for the Rajput kings of the
region. Later on it was leased by the British Government form the erstwhile
Maharaja of Sirohi and it became a headquarter of the residents. The British
preferred to rejoice in the serene ambiance of Mount Abu. It even served as
sanatorium to the troops.

Dilwara Jain Temples : These temples are the hottest
Attractions of Mount Abu. The temples are exemplar of finest Jain
architecture in India. The complex comprises of two temples the Vimal
Temple, built in 1031 dedicate to Adinath and Tejpal Temple, built in 1230 -
with exquisite marble carvings. Other temples in the same circumference are
not as good as these two temples.
Nakki Lake : Legends say that this small lake in the
heart of Mount Abu was scooped out of a nail of God. Thus, it is regarded as
a sacred lake among Hindus. Enveloped with hills, parks and strange rock
formations, the lake is much popular among tourists. The site abuzz with all
kinds of activities. Enjoy Boat Cruising in the lake.
Raghunath Temple : The temple dating back to 14th century
is a must when you visit the Nakki Lake. It is close by the lake and so many
travelers turn pilgrim and offer prayers at the temple.
Viewpoints : Among an array of viewpoints, the Sunset
Point is most popular. Honeymoon point offers an exotic view of sunset. The
Crags and Robert's Spur gives magnificent view.
Adhar Devi Temple : To the north of the town is the
temple of Adhar Devi where you climb a fleet of 365 stairs to reach the
shrine. The temple is built in a natural cliff of the rocks. Stoop a little
to enter the temple and when you on the top you get a panoramic view of the
city.
Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University and Museum : People
from all over the globe flock to the university in attainment of spiritual
enlightenment. The aim of the university is to impart spiritual knowledge
and restore peace and harmony in the world. The sessions of meditation are
offered at the museum of the university.

The city houses exquisite Dilwara Temples. The temples are a must visit on
your trip to Mt. Abu. These wonderful temples, a group of five legendary
Jain temples, are carved out of white marbles and dates back to 11th century
to 13th centuries A.D. The monumental glory of the city has been emphasized
by
Vimal Vasahi temple is built by Vimal Shah and is devoted to the first Jain
Tirthankaras. Another famous temple in the same complex is Lun Vasahi temple
built by Jain brothers Tejpal and Vastupal in 1231 AD. The adorned and
ornamented gateways, ceilings and panels offer a charismatic essence to
these temples.
