Nawalgarh City
Your Rendezvous With the City
Poddar HaveliThe town of heritage edifices, the ancient structures – Nawalgarh lies in Shekawati region of Rajasthan. It is a superb place to see the grandeur of Royal Rajputs. The lavish mansion here reflect the pomp and power that the erstwhile rulers had enjoyed. The Tourist Attractions in Nawalgarh are many and so travelers make the most of the opportunity to explore the majestic land of Nawalgrah. It liberally enjoys the status of being an “Open Air Gallery”.

Glimpses From History
The fantastic history of Nawalgarh has been appreciated by many. The city was founded by Nawal Singh in 1737. Nawal Singh was one of the five sons of the ruler Shardul Singh. The arrival of merchants from Jaipur increased the prosperity of the town. Some of the most flourishing merchant families including the wealthy Goenka family, who built many havelis, have hailed from the town. A Tourist's Delight
Bala Quila : The impressive fort of the town was founded in 1737. The modern accretions has though disfigured the fort a bit, but it still has charm intact to it. You can see beautiful mirror work and paintings of scenes of old Jaipur and Nawalgarh.

The Havelis : Located to the west of Bala Quila is a group of six havelis called Aath Havelis. It is called so because initially eight havelis were planned. The paintings may not be as good as others in the town but the painting styles show the transition of technical enhancement in painting over the decades.

Other havelis you can see here are Muraka Haveli, Hem Raj Kulwal Haveli, Khedwal Bhawan, Bhaton ki Haveli, Parsurampura Haveli and many more.

Ganga Mai Temple : The temple, built by Chhauchharia merchants, is dedicated to Goddess Ganga and is worth seeing for the fine mirror work in the inner sanctum. Also remarkable are the paintings above the mandapa.

The mansions of Nawalgarh are a mirror to the exquisite lifestyle of merchants. The architecture and embellishments of the mansions are wonderful.
