Chaumukh Temple, Ranakpur, RajasthanA small village, located close to Udaipur, is beautiful Ranakpur. Although the place does not many tourist's attractions yet people visit the town for the exquisite Jain temple. They are one of their kind and hordes of tourists visit to see the temples. The beauty of the town is marked with lovely marble sculptured temples. Cuddled in the Aravali ranges of Rajasthan, it has become a significant pilgrim center. The fascinating architectural wonders add to the charm of the Attractions in Ranakpur.

Glimpses From History
The witnesses of Ranakpur History tell the splendid tale of religion and Jainism. The town has been named after Rana Kumbha who was approached by Dharna Sah, a Jain businessman who had a vision to build a temple and so asked for land form Rana Kumbha. The dexterity of the artisan is personified in the carvings of Amber Stone. The temples were built in 1439 A.D. and named after Rana Kumbha. The pilgrim destination is a must when visiting Rajasthan. Ranakpur Jain Temple : Built during the reign of generous Rana Kumbha in the 15th century, the temple is the main attraction here. Tourists and pilgrims come alike and appreciate the beauty of the marble carvings. Visiting the Jain temples takes us back in the medieval time's glory.

Cahumukha Temple : This temple, built in 1439, is the main temple of the complex. This Four faced temple is dedicated to Adinath, the first tirathankar of the Jains. The extremely beautiful interiors are well crafted and have 29 halls with 14 different pillars.

Other Temples : Other temples are dedicated to Neminath and Parasnath. At a short distance is the temple of Sun God and Amba Mata.

Sadri : The place is located at a close distance of 8 km from Ranakpur. Visiting Sadri will take you to some spectacular temples and an old dargah of Khudabaksh Baba. You will love to see the charm of the Varahavtar temple and the Chintamani Parsvanath temple, the oldest and the most ancient of the temples, situated here.

Ghanerao : Well known Hindu temples are housed here among which the temple of Gajanand is the most beautiful and noted. See the life like idols of Goddesses – Ridhi and Sidhi – which have images of Lord Hanuman and Bhairon Baba on each side. Another note worthy temple here is the temple of Mahavir which dates back to 10th century. A castle now converted into a hotel is also worth visiting here.

Narlai : The place is close to Ranakpur and is marked for the revered temple of Jains and Hindus. It is situated at the base of a hillock and on the top of there is a magnificent statue of an elephant. One of the important temple here is dedicated to Adinath. The exteriors of the temple are beautifully adorned with mural paintings on its ceiling reflecting their original elegance. The place is ideal to enjoy peaceful walks and houses lovely baori (step well).

Muchhal Mahaveer : The temple of Muchhal Mahaveer is located in the Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary. The legendary temple is the one of its kind as it idolizes Mahaveer Swami in mustaches.
