Introduction
The arid city of Jaisalmer is thankful to the Gadsisar Sagar Tank which lies south to the city walls and was once a water supply providing water to the residents of the city. The tank attracts many migratory and non migratory birds which open new vistas for tourists and so it is delight to see these birds singing and playing. The tank has become one of the major tourist spots in Jaisalmer where picnics and outings are also enjoyed. The tank was built in 1156 AD and rebuilt in 1367AD by Maharwal Gadsi Singh. The beautiful tank has been adorned with arched gates. These gates hold some legends. The architecture of the tank reflects the taste and knowledge of Gadsi Singh who built the tank. The shadow of beautiful temples and shrines reflected in the lake waters, dance to tunes of sun and winds. The tank exhibits the uniqueness of Rajput architecture.

Tilon – ki – pol: The beauty of yellow sandstone gateway arching towards across the road down to the tank is the Tilon-ki-pol which was built by a famous prostitute named Tilon. The Maharaja refused to permission when she offered to pay to own this gateway constructed on the grounds that he would have to go down the tank passing under it. Considering it beneath his dignity and stature, he refused to do so. But once, when he was away she built the gate, however, adding a shrine of Lord Krishna on the top of it to avoid demolition of the structure by the maharaja.

Jaisalmer Fort: The lavish fort of Jaisalmer is a must visit for the tourists. It is a landmark in the history of the city. The fort, built in 1156 A.D. by a Rajput ruler Jaisla, is a perfect place to see the chattris.
