Travel to Mandawa for the extraordinary experience which you rae assured of
during your visit to Mandawa Fort. The fort was built in 1755 by Nawal
Singh, a descendant of Rao Shekha, the founder of Shekhawati. Nawal Singh
was the ruler of Shekhawati. The fort is a saga of elegance and grandeur.

times with beautifully painted murals and paintings, curved and arched

Architecture of
Mandawa Fort :
the heart of the city. The architecture of the fort is a blend of Medieval
European and Chinese architecture. The sprawling architecture houses a
different theme in different sections. The halls of the palace are
exquisitely done. The heritage of Mandawa is well preserved in the fort's
architectural wonders. From the Mandawa havelis one can see the magnificent
fort of Mandawa which is a famed classic example of Rajput architecture.
Interestingly no two rooms are alike in the fort.
The murals in the fort depict local legends and mythological characters
with famous themes of portraits, animals, game hunting, fighting scenes and
with a change set in by colonialism themes changed to English men in hunting
attires, royal cars, trains, telephones, gramophones, and portraits of the
haveli owners dressed flawlessly.
Attractions
Durbar Hall: The massive palatial apartment has a
variation in theme and décor. It is heavily decorated with various
wall paintings and intricately designed mirror work. It houses a number of
antiques and paintings.
Haveli: The city is an Open Art Gallery as it
is dotted with luxurious mansions built by the wealthy merchants. The
remarkable mansions have lavishly painted walls. Some of the famous havelis
of the city are Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli, Goenka Double Haveli, Murmuria
Haveli, Jhunjhunwala Haveli, Mohan Lal Saraf Haveli, Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli,
Binsidhar Newatia Haveli, Lakshminarayan Ladia Haveli and Chokhani Double
Haveli.
Mandawa Castle: The spectacular Mandawa Castle built in
mid 18th century has now been turned into a heritage hotel. The castle
offers panoramic views from its fortifications.

Mukundgarh: To 25 km southeast of the town is the tiny
village of Mukundgarh. The place is worth visiting for the exclusive
forts
and
havelis.
Dundlod: Located at a distance of 30 km to southeast of
the city is town of Dundlod where the attractions for tourists are many
inclusive of the Jagathia Haveli, Satyanarayan Temple and Tuganram Goenka
Haveli besids the Dundlod fort and palace.
Fatehpur: The town was founded in 1451 as a capital for
Muslim nawabs. But the Rajputs of Shekhawat region took over it in the 18th
century. Visitors to the place love to explore Mahavir Prasad Goenka Haveli,
Gauri Shankar Haveli, Nand Lal Devra Haveli, and Harikrishnan Das Sarogi
Haveli and a 17th century baoli.
Nawalgarh: The place is about 37 Km only to Mandawa.
Nawalgarh is popular among the tourists because of the Nawalgarh Fort and
famous havelis like Anandi Lal Poddar, Aath Haveli, Hem Raj Kulwal Haveli,
Bhagton Ki Haveli, and Khedwal Bhavan.
