The
legacy of forts and palaces being turned to a heritage hotel in Rajasthan is
long. In this series another name worth mentioning is Shiv Niwas Palace
hotel in Udaipur which has now been turned into a heritage hotel and has
been awarded 'Heritage Award for Excellence' in 1997-98 and the National
Tourism Award for the best heritage hotel in 'Heritage Grand' category
1998-99 and 2000-01 by the Department of Tourism, Government of India. The
palace was formerly a residence to Maharana Fateh Singh. The palace is now a
Grand
Heritage Hotel because the immaculate grandeur and elegance is
restored in the palace.
Architecture
The spell bounding palace is exquisitely done. The interiors of the palace
have been embellished beautifully with chandeliers, tiles, arched balconies
and royal paintings. Tourists are attracted to the fort because it now a

weddings. The palace has

Singh in 1620 is a prime attraction in Udaipur. It is believed that Shah

Jagniwas Island: The Lake Palace Hotel island of Jagniwas
is very huge in size. Surrounded by the palace, it was built by Maharaj
Jagat Singh II in 1754.
