Tonk was the only princely state in village Rajasthan ruled by the Muslims. There is a research institute in Tonk which has Arabic, Persian and Urdu manuscripts and a rare collection of literature from India, Iran & Arabian countries.
Unpublished, handwritten books and manuscripts, largely poetry by Muslim poets can be seen by tourists in the collection kept within the institute.
