Krishna is a part of
City Palace complex though outside the walls.

culture and legacy. Lord Krishna, to whom the temple is devoted, is
considered the principal deity of Amber's Kachawaha Dynasty. Previously the
idol of Krishna in Govind Devji Temple was resting at Vrindavan in Uttar
Pradesh.
The temple abounds in legends according to which the king, Raja Sawai Jai
Singh, was asked to bring the idol of Krishna from Vrindavan in a vision. So
bringing the idol from there, he established it in the City Palace Complex.
After that his successor Raja Man Singh initiated the construction of the
temple in 1890. The setting of the temple is such that the King could see
the God from his palace, the adjoining Chandra Mahal.
