Getting There: The nearest airport, railhead as well as road network is that of Bikaner. Take buses or taxis from Bikaner or Gogo Gate Bus stand to Deshnok

About the Temple
Karni Mata TempleQuite an intricate kind of temple, Karni Mata temple, is a must visit for many travelers. The resident deity of the temple is Karni Mata, who is deemed as an reincarnation of Durga. Karni mata was mystic who lived in the 15th century and dissolved after her marriage at the age of 27. she became a sanyasani and devoted her entire life for the welfare of the poor. In the inner sanctum of the temple there is an idol of her depicting her as Durga after slaying off Mahishasur, the buffalo demon. Not only the goddess but rats here also much respected. These rodents, called kabas, reside in the temple premises and are believed to house the departed souls of devotees of Karni Mata. Beautiful Architecture
The former ruler of Bikaner, Ganga Singh, constructed the temple entirely of marble. The silver and gold domes of Karni mata temple are an attraction for the devotees. The lavishness of the temple is reflected in the mandap and the panels over the idol which are also made of gold. The entrance gate of the temple has been intricately and exclusively embellished. The architectural marvel of the temple is a must see.

Must See - Must Do
Fairs: The temple is not a pilgrimage center for Rajsthani people, but also for the people from all over the world. At the time of Navratri, a grand fair is held at the temple where devotees make a beeline to the shrine. The fairs are held bi annually – April/ May and October/ November.

Shri Karni Centenary Auditorium: It is worth going a place where you are told the story of Karni Mata's life with Hindi and English descriptions.

Kolayat: Kolayat is a beautiful unfrequented town set around a temple – ringed lake. It is a very holy place with 52 ghats surroundings the holy lake. It has a Brahma temple like Pushkar.
